FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
FITNESS I TRAVEL I WELLBEING
Do you have a question?
hello@xplr-retreats.com
What level of fitness is required on the retreats? Please note that some activities may require a certain level of fitness, however, XPLR is all about having fun! Our team of expert trainers will adapt and modify exercises during the workouts and help to motivate you. We aim for you to feel fitter at the end of the retreat compared to when you arrive. XPLR is for everyone. Whilst some guests may want to get involved with everything we have planned, we don’t mind if others dip in and out of the itinerary. This is your escape. If you are concerned about your fitness levels or have an existing injury, firstly consult your GP and then drop us an email and we will be able to advise you further.
Can I travel solo? Absolutely – of course you can! Come and meet new people, have fun on the retreat and leave with new connections. There is something to be said about solo travel. A lot of people consider this the best way to immerse themselves with the retreat experience and have a great time. On the other hand, retreats are pretty awesome to share with your friends and family, so before booking a space for just yourself, why not drop your besties a message and see if they want to join in with the adventure.
When should I book? As soon as possible as spaces are limited, and usually travel is cheaper in advance. To secure your booking, a non-refundable deposit is required. Don’t forget to visit our terms and conditions page before committing to your retreat. Head to the tab 'sign up' to register your details. We will then be able to reply with our availability and booking information, along with an example itinerary.
Is travel included in the retreat package? Our retreats can be booked by guests from all around the world, therefore we ask you to arrange your own travel arrangements. We will advise the best routes to getting to your retreat and will ask for your travel plans upon booking your adventure with us. If you are interested in the Greek retreat, transfers will be included from Thira Airport (Santorini) to/from the hotel, but it will be necessary to make all other travel arrangements.
What is the minimum age to participate? Is there an age range? All guests need to be 18 or over to attend a retreat. We welcome all ages but generally find guests are between 30-65 years old. If you are up for a great time and over the minimum requirement, age is not something we worry about. These retreats are open to everyone. Come join the fun!
What if I have an injury? Before booking a retreat with XPLR, please consult your GP to ensure you can safely participate. As fitness professionals, we will be able to offer progressions and regressions to exercise, however, we would not want to see any injury get worse during the retreat, therefore please consult your Doctor, get the green light and be on the safe side. We kindly ask you to do this not just for our peace of mind but also yours, as we want you to enjoy your time with us.
How many exercise classes can I expect each day? As a rule of thumb, we would usually instruct 2-3 exercise classes each day however this depends on our itinerary. Please ask us for this!
Can I do my own thing during the day/evening, or do I have to stick to the schedule? This is YOUR holiday. We want to ensure that you have options to choose from and welcome you to dip in and out of the XPLR itinerary as you please. Whether you choose to do absolutely everything we set out or take a break and do your own thing, we really don’t mind. A list of optional extras will be available to you and we can assist with booking them for you.
Can I extend my stay or arrive late to a retreat? Where possible, try not to arrive late as you will miss out on the fun! If you choose to extend your holiday, you will be responsible for any additional costs. The retreat schedule will be given to you ahead of departure, allowing you to consider your travel plans. The start and finish time of the retreat will depend on factors, such as check out times and travel plans. A more detailed itinerary will be sent to guests on the lead up to the retreat.
What is the food like? In a word – delicious! Do not worry, we will not starve you. We enjoy good food and understand the meaning of a ‘balanced lifestyle’. There will be no faddy diets or shakes with XPLR. Choices on some retreats may be a little more limited compared to the ones where you will be able to visit multiple restaurants, but we do aim to please and will do our utmost to make this an enjoyable experience for everyone. Please make sure we know of any specific dietary requirements or dislikes at the time of booking, and we will aim to cater for these needs.
Alcohol, smoking and recreational drugs? Let’s be realistic – life is about balance so if you would like a few alcoholic beverages throughout your stay with us, great; all we ask is that you are respectful to other guests and be considerate of your actions. You may decide that you want to use this opportunity to ‘detox’ and flush out the toxins. This is your retreat, and you can make it what you want it to be. Smoking is tolerated but again please respect other guests. Recreational drugs are a big no no and your retreat experience will end should they be found.
